Mpamba Solutions resources provided SAPS with a Proof of Concept Application (SAPS-CI) in 2013, that was developed to be used as a mobile solution on cell phones for First Responders, and Investigation Officials to guide them when identifying, preserving, collecting and securing evidence at reported incidents or crime scenes.
Concept features included:
- Transfer incidents from the Dispatcher to the First Responder to attend to the reported incident.
- Transfer the location of an incident from the GEMC system to the SAPS-CI app.
- Display the location of the incident on a map.
- Automatically populate First Responder’s information on the app.
- Populate the crime type, date, and time of arrival on the scene.
- Capture investigation notes.
- Record interviews and statements.
- Video recording of the crime scene.
- Capture witness / victim / corpse / suspect information.
- Take photos of exhibits, witnesses, and suspects on the scene and add it to the evidence with notes.
- Scanning the bar codes of ID documents and sealed exhibits with the GPS location of the crime scene.
