Rea Vaya Project

The City of Johannesburg (Transport Department) engaged the services of Mpamba Solutions & Consultancy in September 2012 for the Rea Vaya Project (a bus rapid transit system operating in Johannesburg) to provide technical support in respect of Database Management for the Intelligence Transport System (ITS) comprising of the following:

  • Advanced Public Transport Management System (APTMS)  – Connecting signal controllers to an intelligent network for enhanced data gathering and analysis and better timing of traffic signals.
  • Automated Fare Collection (AFC) System – A collection of components that automate the ticket system of a public transportation network.

Furthermore, Mpamba maintained and managed the information systems, oversees the system security, and undertakes user access control.

Program Portfolio & Procurement Professional Services Project

The contract awarded to Mpamba Solutions & Consulting to provide Program Portfolio and Procurement Professional Services ran from 01 July to 31 January 2013. Complex portfolios such as Property Value Chain (PVC) and Revenue Value Chain (RVC) were included in the Program Management Services delivered by Mpamba.

Individual projects such as Contract Center Billing Queries Workflow, Physical Security, and many more ICT-related projects were included in the scope. Knowledgeable resources were also provided by Mpamba to facilitate ICT procurement for the entire city of Johannesburg.
